Ergonomic analysis of paced and unpaced workstations to derive restorative breaks.

Takt-based workstations in production are characterized by fixed cycle times and limited flexibility. If rest periods are insufficient, this can lead to increased physical and mental strain. In collaboration with an industry partner, ifab is developing a checklist designed to evaluate work organization from an ergonomic perspective with regard to takt-bound work and shifts in workload. The development of this ergonomically sound and multidimensional evaluation checklist is based on a clarification of conceptual and ergonomic fundamentals. The target is to conduct a systematic analysis of various workstations in manufacturing companies with regard to their work organization, task structure, types of strain, and existing potential for work-integrated stress relief.
