Contents: The Production Technology Laboratory (PTL) is a joint course offered by the wbk, IFL, IMI, and ifab institutes: Information management for Industry 4.0 (IMI) VR-Supported Product Development (IMI) Parts Manufacturing with CNC Machines (wbk) Process Control of Manufacturing Systems (wbk) Automated Assembly (wbk) Flexible Material Flow in the Age of Industry 4.0 (IFL)Identification in Production and Logistics (IFL)Warehouse and Picking Technology (IFL)Production Control (ifab)Time Management (ifab)Workstation Design (ifab)Recommendations:Attendance at the following lectures: Information Systems, Material Flow Theory, Manufacturing Engineering, Ergonomics. Learning Objectives:In this application-oriented production engineering laboratory practicum, students acquire broad and in-depth knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools of production engineering in order to evaluate and design complex production systems with regard to issues in manufacturing and process engineering, conveyor and material-handling technology, information technology, as well as work organization and production management. Upon completion of the lab, students will be able, in particular, to solve specified planning and design problems in the aforementioned divisions; to evaluate and design processes at the factory, production, and process levels; to fundamentally plan, control and evaluate the production of a company in the discrete manufacturing industry, design and evaluate the IT architecture in a manufacturing company, design and evaluate suitable conveying, warehousing, and order-picking technology for a production facility, and design and evaluate parts manufacturing and assembly with regard to workflows and workstations.

Organizational Information: Attendance is mandatory; enrollment is limited. Registration via ILIAS. Workload: 120 hours (= 4 LP).Credentials: Pass/Fail. Regular participation in laboratory experiments and successful completion of introductory colloquia are required. To deepen the knowledge acquired in this course, the theoretical lecture sessions are supplemented by practical sessions.
